In game two all of the Jaspers 11 runs were scored in the seventh and eighth innings. Their outpouring of runs was started by Nieto who blasted a three-run homerun. Sophomore Mark Onorati followed with a two-run knock. Then in the eighth, sophomore Chad Salem sent one out securing the Jaspers win, 11-7.
The Jaspers return to action this weekend when they travel to Philadelphia to take on Temple, St. Joe's and La Salle.
Lady Jaspers Beat Maryland, Lose Next Three
The Lady Jaspers went 1-4 this weekend in the University of Maryland's Round Robin Tournament. On Saturday the Lady Jaspers upset the Terps 4-2. Sophomore Melissa Donnelly pitched all seven innings and struck out two. The Lady Jaspers were led offensively by Kristina Walraven who went 2-3 with a homer, single and walk.
In their remaining three games the Lady Jaspers dropped two against Gardner-Webb 3-1 and 8-0 and one to Dartmouth 5-4. The girls travel to Kissimmee, Florida this weekend and will stay for the week to play in the Rebel Spring Games.
