As a testament to his popularity and the student body's confidence in him, O'Shea was the only candidate of the Draddy Bunch party elected to the Executive Board. While this honor means he will be working with members from the ONE party it does not seem to be a foreseeable problem. Party lines cease to exist in the boardroom once students become elected. O'Shea too admits being friends with the members of the board having lived with current President Andrew Elbrecht and VP for Communication, Bob Barrows, for the duration of the summer.
O'Shea's determination and dedication to the position seems to be his priority. He says, "I wanted this position on the board because I knew it was the most challenging position with the most leg work to be done." He adds, "I knew I was one of the only people on this campus ready to step up and take control and be able to run things successfully."
Kieran was initially drawn to the position through his work on the Jasper basketball celebratory pep rally. "I orchestrated the Manhattan Madness Event last year without even being part of the Executive Board, which I feel was a huge success and led me to having an interest in taking over that and all the other big social events that needed to be planned and run here on campus."
O'Shea has organized and executed many events for MC. He has helped plan the Gaelic Society's Irish Nights and the St. Patrick Day Parades, where former Mayor Giuliani marched with MC. He shadowed former VP of Social Life acting as her vice-chair during Manhattan's biggest event, Spring Fest, where Third Eye Blind performed.
As for leadership qualifications, O'Shea has been steadily escalating in that department since his freshman year where he started working with Social Life organizing trips to sports games, including ones to Yankee Stadium. He is well versed on the politics and workings of the Executive Board having been the VP for Communication on the E-board his sophomore year, and his junior year he became Gaelic Society Vice President.
