Manhattan College Men's Track and Field Takes Fourth at IC4A Championships

Once again the Jaspers Track and Field make a good showing and their efforts give them fourth place at the IC4A championships.

It was a valiant effort on Saturday and Sunday in Boston, Massachusetts by the Manhattan College Men's Track and Field team as they finished fourth in the IC4A Championship.

Manhattan just missed taking second place as they finished two points behind Cornell University and one point behind Rutgers University. Penn State would win the event with a score of 71 beating out some of the best schools on the east coast. Manhattan in a great effort would end up with a score of 53.

After day one of the meet Manhattan Track and Field team was in good position as they were in first. There were many impressive individual efforts that put Manhattan in this position. It was once again an outstanding showing for the Track and Field team's throwers.

In the weight throw senior Michael Freeman would come just short of first as he placed second with a throw of 19.67 meters. Junior Paul Peulich came in third for the Jaspers with a throw of 19.36 meters. In third place, Anders Constantin would put up a throw of 18.96 meters. Junior Zoran Loncar would put a throw of 17.78 meters which would be good for seventh place.

Also on the first day there was the long jump. For Manhattan College it was Junior Nick Newman coming in fifth with a jump of 7.09 meters. Also for the Jaspers Sophomore Dexter Jules came in sixth place after a jump of 7.08 meters. Denis Street had a jump of 6.82 meters which would be good for ninth place.

The conclusion of day one gave Manhattan a score of 28.5 which put them in the lead and a good position to win it all. Unfortunately their second day efforts would fall just short. However, there were many outstanding individual performances by the Men's Track and Field team.

Once again it was an incredible performance by sophomore thrower Milan Jontanovic in the shot put. The sophomore thrower would place first in the shot put with a distance of 19.42 meters. This throw would be good enough for Jontanovic to qualify for the NCAA Championships next weekend.
