Men and Women Extend Their Streak to 10 Straight MAAC Indoor Championships

For the men it was another impressive outing from the throwers. Headlining was sophomore Milan Jotanovic who in the shot put, put up an impressive distance of 19.28 meters. This broke the meet record of 18.10 meters, which was also held by Jotanovic. This throw by the sophomore was the third best in the nation.
For the weight throw it was Aussie, Paul Peulich who won the event with a throw of 19.81 meters, a personal record for the junior. Manhattan also took second and third in the event with senior Michael Freeman and senior Anders Constantin.
For the men's jumpers it was sophomore Dexter Jules who stole the show. In the triple jump, Jules won the event with a jump of 14.81 meters. Then in the long jump, Jules put up a jump of 7.26 meters, which was good enough for first place and a personal record. Jules' efforts were good enough to win him MAAC Male Performer of the Meet for field events.
In the high jump sophomore Chris Sole put on a quite a show. He would win the event with a jump of 2.06 meters. In the 55-meter hurdles, Joseph Cruz was just edged by Rider's Randy Nixon. Cruz came in second with a time of 7.75 seconds.
Paul Papitto took second place in the 400-meter race as he was barely beaten by Rider's Ayo Owodunni. Papitto put a time of 50.03 seconds. Teammate Darnell Douglas finished third with a time of 50.11 seconds.
In the mile, senior Tyler Raymond took first place with a time of 4:11.32. Raymond would also place second in the men's 800-meter race with a time of 1:52.10.
The men's team would win the event with a team score of 204.5 points. They beat Rider by 41 points who had a team score of 163.5 points.
For the women it was a very impressive outing, as they would take first place. The night was capped off with a tremendous showing of the 4X400 meter relay. The women took first place in the race with runners Lauren Cervino, Amy Colantuono, Kendra Geller, and Erin Gregorek who put up a time of 3:59.4. The first place showing in this race sealed the deal for the women's tenth straight MAAC indoor championship.
