Members of the Manhattan College Cross Country and Track and Field teams competed in different events during the summer.
The three Jaspers participated in National Track Championships. Manhattan alumnus, Jacob Freeman competed in the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in California. Freeman was placed second overall with a final throw of 72.60 meters.
Dexter Jules was a member of the Pam Am Junior Championships played at the University of Windsor in Canada. Jules came in fourth at the championships with a 15.39 meters jump. Jasmine Rogers also competed at the Junior Championships and placed 12th in the 100 hurdles with 14.92 minutes.
After competing at the National Track Championships, Freeman qualified to compete in the USA vs. Finland Dual Meet.
In early August, freshman Milan Jotanovic competed at an international level competition and was placed 11th overall in the shot-put championships at the World University Games in Izmir, Turkey with a throw of 17.84 meters.
Manhattan's training and competition is getting better. Last Spring four Jaspers made history in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The following Jaspers held the top four spots of the 2005 IC4A: Zoran Loncar (63.15), Anders Constantin (62.35), Paul Peulich (62.28) and Michael Freeman (61.01).
The Jaspers' Assistant Coach, Elliot Belin stated "Some of the athletes trained over the summer and others competed over the summer. It will benefit the athletes a great deal during the regular season."
